Coniferous Forest
To sum it all up, the Coniferous Forest is a forest consisting of Conifers. Conifers are trees that produce their seeds in cones. An example of a Conifer is a pine tree, because they produce their seeds in the form of a pine cone. Conifers also preserve their water with a layer that covers their leaves, called needles. The vegetation in a Coniferous Forest is small, but feeds the herbivore population. The annual rainfall is 14-29.5 inches. The average temperature in the summer is 57.2°F, and in the winter it is 14°F degrees.

Plants and Animals of the Coniferous Forest
Obviously, almost all of the plants in the Coniferous Forest are trees. Some of these trees include the Fir Tree, the Pine Tree, the Spruce Tree, and the Hemlock Tree. These trees provide habitats for many of the creatures living in the Coniferous Forests. The Coniferous Forests are found in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. The animals in the Coniferous Forests are mostly herbivores, there are so carnivores, but not many. Some animals include the REd Fox, the Moose, the Snowshoe Hare, the Great Horned Owl, and the Crossbill.

Threats to the Coniferous Forest
There are unfortunately many threats that face these forests. One of them is clear cut logging. It erodes the soil, and destroys habitats, Even replanting trees cannot help the damage that is done when there is logging. Another problem is high hunting and trapping. Mining is a huge threat to the Coniferous Forest. It releases chemicals that can kill a lot of wildlife, trees and plants. Construction for roads and ski slopes, landfills, housing and more is another issue. Road construction destroys habitats, and the pollution from cars and buses also destroys many of the forests.
